NPower California is a recipient of California Workforce Development Board’s Breaking Barriers to Employment grant. Through the Breaking Barriers program, NPower has served over 100 military veterans, veteran spouses, and young adults from low-income communities in Los Angeles County, equipping them with important tools to enter and thrive in the ever-evolving California technology workforce. NPower offers programs in Tech Fundamentals, as well as advanced training pathways in cybersecurity and cloud computing. Their services are currently offered in the Greater Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento regions.
NPower California is currently recruiting for its Spring 2024 Tech Fundamentals cohort. Interested and eligible individuals residing in the counties of Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Contra Costa, Alameda, Solano, and Sacramento can find out more at their info page.
Graduates of NPower’s 2023 spring cohort celebrated their accomplishments at the Bob Hope Memorial in Los Angeles. They were joined by friends, family, NPower staff, and keynote speaker Fiona Ma, California State Treasurer.
Benny Castillo is a U.S. Navy veteran. He completed NPower’s Tech Fundamental’s program in Los Angeles and earned three industry-recognized tech certifications. Upon graduating, Benny accepted a Technical Support Associate position at SpaceX.
“The instructors have been the most helpful throughout the program, and NPower’s career development days have shaped me to become the savvy tech professional that I strive to be,” said Benny.
NPower trainees participated in an impactful professional development and networking day at Microsoft Tech Center. This opportunity allowed students to collaborate with NPower’s diverse network of partners and supporters.
NPower’s Breaking Barriers to Employment team, joined by Gregory Irish, the Executive Director of the Los Angeles Workforce Development Board, hosted a panel discussion on Building Community Partnerships at the California Workforce Association’s Meeting of the Minds Summit in Monterey, CA.
