Avin Sharma

Avin Sharma, of South Pasadena, has been appointed to the California Workforce Development Board. Sharma is the Senior Director of Workforce & Government Affairs at the Port of Los Angeles, where he has been since 2017. In 2020, he served on the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition Team, where he was the lead for the U.S. Department of Labor. He also held several positions in the Obama Administration, including White House Liaison and Counselor to the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2014 to 2017, Economics Director for the presidential personnel office at the White House from 2013 to 2014, and Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Foreign Claims Settlement Commission at the U.S. Department of Justice from 2011 to 2013. Sharma was Deputy Political Director for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer in 2010. He was an associate at Vasquez Benisek & Lindgren from 2008 to 2010, at Morgan Miller Blair from 2007 to 2008, and at Green Welling from 2005 to 2007. Sharma earned a Juris Doctor degree from the UC College of the Law, San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from UC Santa Barbara.
